The film was animated using hinged paper puppets filmed on a green screen. The animations were then composited onto a 3D background using After Effects.

Fabrication

Smells Like Park is a film created for the 2025 one-week film anthology WITHIN THE FRAME. The multimedia film combines a variety of techniques and mediums including stop-motion animation, 3D animation, motion design, live-action footage, and more.

The film is a response to the anthology’s theme “Kinda Smells Like…” and was completed within a one-week time frame in August, 2025. I served as the project’s director, stop-motion animator, and fabricator.

Animation

Pinkus Pork was drawn digitally before being fabricated using thick cardstock paper, acrylic paint, and colored pencils. The puppet’s hinges are visible through silver brad fasteners, a conscious choice meant to emphasize the film’s multimedia nature.
